Customize it with your favorite toppings like shredded cheese, sour cream, or crispy tortilla strips for a delicious twist. Whether you’re hosting guests or craving something cozy, this soup is sure to impress!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 6 fresh jalapeños, seeded and sliced
  • 2 cups chicken broth (or vegetable broth for vegetarian option)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon cumin
  • Optional toppings: shredded cheese, sour cream, chopped cilantro, or tortilla strips

Instructions

    1. Sauté the Vegetables
In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, and sauté until soft and fragrant, about 3-4 minutes.

    2. Cook the Jalapeños
Add the sliced jalapeños to the pot and cook for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

    3. Add Broth and Simmer
Pour in the chicken broth, and bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.

    4. Blend the Soup
Using an immersion blender (or transferring to a countertop blender in batches), blend the soup until smooth. Be cautious of the hot liquid.

    5. Add Cream and Milk
Return the soup to low heat. Stir in the heavy cream and milk. Season with salt, black pepper, and cumin. Simmer for 5 more minutes, stirring occasionally.

    6. Serve
Ladle the soup into bowls and garnish with your choice of toppings. Serve hot and enjoy!
